The Gambia is a West African country that follows the River Gambia inland from the Atlantic Ocean. Senegal borders it to the north, east, and south. Its capital is Banjul, and its currency is the Gambian dalasi.

At Wassu and Kerbatch, ancient stone circles form part of the Stone Circles of Senegambia, a UNESCO World Heritage site shared with Senegal. These monuments reflect skilled craftsmanship, organized communities, and traditions spanning more than a thousand years.
